Variegated Japanese Sedge Description

Carex morrowii Variegata is a distinctive Japanese Sedge with narrow foliage featuring attractive green and creamy variegation. The gently arching leaves create a soft, flowing texture that can complement both traditional and contemporary planting schemes.

The Variegated Japanese Sedge is particularly useful for brightening shaded borders and creating contrast beneath trees or alongside shrubs. Its foliage can provide visual interest even where flowering plants are less prominent.

Its compact, clump forming habit also makes it suitable for containers, shaded patios and mixed planting schemes where a low growing foliage plant is required.

Pruning Advice

Variegated Japanese Sedge is relatively low maintenance. Remove dead, damaged or untidy foliage in late winter or early spring to maintain a fresh appearance.

Avoid cutting healthy foliage back too aggressively. Carefully removing older leaves allows new growth to develop while preserving the plant's natural shape.

Clear away dead material around the base as required during seasonal maintenance.
