Aurea Sedge Description

Carex elata Aurea is a distinctive ornamental sedge with narrow foliage that creates a bright golden effect within the garden. Its gently arching leaves provide movement and texture while maintaining an attractive clump forming shape.

The vibrant foliage makes Aurea Sedge useful for creating contrast within mixed borders. It can be combined with plants in darker shades of green, flowering perennials and contrasting foliage plants to create a layered planting scheme.

Its graceful appearance also makes it suitable for more naturalistic garden designs, while the bright foliage can complement contemporary planting around patios, paths and other landscaped areas.

Pruning Advice

Aurea Sedge generally requires minimal maintenance. Remove dead, damaged or untidy foliage in late winter or early spring before the new season's growth develops.

Avoid cutting healthy foliage back excessively. Carefully removing older material helps preserve the natural shape of the plant while encouraging a fresh appearance.

Any dead leaves or accumulated material around the base can also be cleared during seasonal maintenance.
