Flamingo Maiden Grass Description

Miscanthus Flamingo is a graceful variety of Miscanthus grass, recognised for its fine foliage and attractive pink flower plumes. The upright growth habit makes it particularly useful for introducing height and movement to garden borders.

The narrow leaves of this grass Miscanthus sinensis variety create a soft texture that contrasts well with flowering perennials, evergreen shrubs and broader leaved plants. As the flower plumes develop, they add another layer of seasonal interest and can remain attractive after flowering.

Miscanthus Flamingo Grass works particularly well towards the middle or back of a mixed border. It can be planted as an individual feature or grouped with other ornamental grasses to create a naturalistic display.

For gardeners looking to introduce ornamental grasses into a planting scheme, Flamingo offers a useful combination of colour, movement and structure. Its graceful form can complement both traditional and contemporary garden designs.

Pruning Advice

Leave the foliage and flower plumes of Flamingo Maiden Grass in place throughout autumn and winter. The dried stems can provide valuable structure and movement during the colder months.

Cut back old growth in late winter or early spring before new shoots emerge. Wear gloves when pruning and remove the previous season's foliage close to the base while taking care not to damage fresh growth.
