Intense Blue Fescue Description

Festuca glauca Intense Blue, commonly known as Intense Blue Fescue, is a compact ornamental grass recognised for its vivid blue grey foliage and rounded form. Its fine leaves create a distinctive focal point while providing strong contrast against green foliage, flowering plants and hard landscaping.

This Intense Blue Fescue ornamental grass is particularly effective in contemporary and structured planting schemes. Its strong foliage colour works beautifully alongside gravel, stone, paving and plants with contrasting foliage.

Blue Fescue grasses are also useful where planting space is limited. The compact habit makes Intense Blue suitable for edging, rockeries, gravel gardens and containers, while its fine foliage adds texture throughout the year.

Pruning Advice

Intense Blue Fescue generally requires minimal pruning. Remove dead, damaged or untidy foliage as necessary to maintain its neat appearance.

In late winter or early spring, gently remove older foliage before new growth begins. Avoid cutting deeply into the centre of the plant, as this can damage emerging growth.
