Golden Dew Tufted Hair Description

Deschampsia cespitosa Goldtau, commonly known as Golden Dew, is a graceful tufted hair grass valued for its fine foliage and delicate golden flower heads.

The airy blooms rise above the foliage, creating a light, shimmering effect that adds movement and softness to garden planting.

This Golden Dew ornamental grass is an excellent choice for adding vertical interest without making a border feel crowded. Its fine flower heads work particularly well alongside flowering perennials, other ornamental grasses and naturalistic planting.

Golden Dew Tufted Hair can also be incorporated into prairie inspired planting schemes, mixed borders and informal gardens. Its combination of fine foliage and elegant flower stems provides useful structure and seasonal interest.

Pruning Advice

The delicate flower heads can be left standing through autumn and winter to provide additional structure and seasonal interest.

Cut back the old foliage and flowering stems in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Use clean, sharp shears when cutting back the plant and remove any damaged or untidy foliage. This helps keep the clump neat while encouraging fresh growth.
