Frosted Curls Sedge Description

Carex comans Frosted Curls is a fine textured ornamental sedge recognised for its narrow, curling foliage. The soft silver green colouring and flowing habit give this plant a distinctive appearance that works across contemporary, naturalistic and traditional garden designs.

The gently arching leaves create movement and can be particularly effective when planted in groups. Frosted Curls Sedge can also be used to soften the edges of borders, pathways and patios, while its compact form makes it suitable for smaller gardens and containers.

Its unusual foliage provides interest even where flowers are not the main focus, making it a versatile addition to mixed planting schemes.

Pruning Advice

Frosted Curls Sedge is relatively low maintenance. Remove dead, damaged or untidy foliage in late winter or early spring before the new season's growth develops fully.

Avoid cutting healthy foliage back too heavily. Carefully removing older material helps maintain the plant's graceful shape while allowing fresh growth to emerge.

Any dead material around the base can also be cleared during seasonal maintenance to keep the plant and surrounding area tidy.
