Monroe White Lily Turf Description

Liriope muscari Monroe White is a versatile evergreen perennial recognised for its narrow foliage and attractive white flowers. Commonly known as Lily Turf or Lilyturf, it provides a grass like appearance while offering seasonal flowering interest.

Unlike varieties with darker flower colours, Liriope muscari White selections such as Monroe White can introduce a softer, brighter accent to planting schemes. The white flower spikes contrast beautifully against the plant's green foliage and work particularly well in shaded or woodland inspired borders.

White Liriope is useful for edging paths, filling gaps beneath shrubs and creating low growing structure around larger plants. Its compact habit also makes it a practical option for smaller gardens, containers and areas where a neat evergreen plant is required.

For gardeners searching for a reliable Liriope plant, Monroe White offers a combination of evergreen foliage, seasonal flowers and adaptable growth. It can be incorporated into traditional borders as well as contemporary planting schemes.

Pruning Advice

Monroe White Lily Turf requires relatively little maintenance. Remove dead, damaged or untidy foliage as necessary to keep the plant looking neat.

In late winter or early spring, older foliage can be trimmed back before new growth begins. Take care to avoid cutting into fresh shoots.

Once flowering has finished, spent flower spikes can be removed if you prefer a tidier appearance. Regular removal of damaged foliage will help maintain the overall shape of the plant.
