Gracillimus Maiden Grass Description

Miscanthus Gracillimus is a well known variety of Miscanthus sinensis, recognised for its fine foliage and graceful upright form. The narrow leaves create a soft, elegant texture that contrasts particularly well with broader leaved shrubs and flowering perennials.

This Gracillimus Miscanthus grass is a versatile choice for UK gardens. Its architectural shape can add height to a border without creating a heavy appearance, while the foliage moves naturally in the breeze.

As a type of Miscanthus Maiden Grass, Gracillimus can provide interest across several seasons. Its foliage remains attractive through the growing season, while the mature stems can provide valuable structure during autumn and winter.

For gardeners looking for a Miscanthus sinensis Maiden Grass variety, Gracillimus is particularly useful in mixed borders, prairie inspired planting schemes and contemporary gardens. It can be planted individually for impact or grouped together for a stronger display.

Pruning Advice

Allow the foliage of Gracillimus Maiden Grass to remain through autumn and winter. The dried stems can provide attractive structure and movement during the colder months.

Cut back old foliage in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Wear gloves when pruning and remove the previous season's growth close to the base, taking care not to damage fresh shoots.
