Golden Veil Tufted Hair Description

Deschampsia cespitosa Goldschleier, commonly known as Golden Veil, is a graceful tufted hair grass valued for its delicate foliage and airy golden flower heads.

The fine blooms rise above the foliage, creating an attractive cloud of colour and movement when gently caught by the breeze.

This Golden Veil ornamental grass is ideal for adding height and softness without making a planting scheme feel overcrowded. Its open flower heads work particularly well alongside flowering perennials, other grasses and naturalistic planting.

Golden Veil Tufted Hair can also be used to create a relaxed prairie inspired appearance.

The combination of fine foliage and delicate flower stems provides useful structure across several seasons, making it an attractive choice for borders and informal garden designs.

Pruning Advice

The airy flower heads can be left standing through autumn and winter to provide structure and seasonal interest. Cut back the old foliage and flowering stems in late winter or early spring before fresh growth begins.

Use clean, sharp shears when cutting back the plant and remove any damaged or untidy material. This helps maintain a neat clump and encourages fresh seasonal growth.
