Elijah Blue Fescue Description

Festuca glauca Elijah Blue, commonly known as Elijah Blue Fescue, is a compact ornamental grass recognised for its particularly striking blue grey foliage. Its fine leaves form a neat, rounded clump that creates strong colour contrast within mixed planting schemes.

This Elijah Blue Fescue ornamental grass works especially well in contemporary and structured gardens, where its distinctive foliage can be used alongside gravel, stone, paving and contrasting green plants.

Blue Fescue is also an excellent option where space is limited. Its compact form makes it useful for edging, rockeries, containers and smaller borders, while its fine foliage provides texture beyond the main flowering season.

Pruning Advice

Elijah Blue Fescue generally requires very little pruning. Remove dead, damaged or untidy foliage as necessary to maintain its compact appearance.

In late winter or early spring, gently remove older foliage before new growth begins. Avoid cutting deeply into the centre of the clump, as this can damage emerging growth.
