Euonymus Emerald Gaiety Hedge Plants Description

Euonymus Emerald Gaiety is a variegated evergreen hedge plant with glossy green leaves edged in creamy white. Its compact growth habit makes it well suited to defining garden borders, pathways and smaller boundaries without requiring a tall hedge.

The foliage provides year-round structure, while cooler temperatures can bring attractive pink and red colouring to the leaves. It is adaptable to a range of soil types and planting conditions, making it a practical choice for both formal garden designs and more natural planting schemes.

Its relatively slow growth means it can be maintained at a manageable size with regular trimming, making it suitable for gardeners looking for a low-growing evergreen hedge with distinctive foliage.

Pruning Advice

Euonymus Emerald Gaiety hedge trimming is best carried out between April and May. Light, regular pruning helps maintain a tidy shape and encourages a dense appearance.

Remove any damaged, unwanted or overgrown shoots with clean, sharp pruning tools.

Avoid excessive cutting when the plant is actively developing new growth, and always check the overall shape before removing larger branches.

Further Information

Our recommended planting densities for each plant size and root type are shown in the product grid. These recommendations can be used as a guide when planning your Euonymus Emerald Gaiety hedge, taking into account the finished appearance you want and how quickly you would like the hedge to fill out.

As a general guide, bare-root plants can be planted at approximately 3-7 plants per metre, while cell-grown plants can be planted at around 4-6 plants per metre.

Closer planting may help create a fuller hedge more quickly, although higher densities can require a double staggered or zig-zag planting arrangement.

For the best results, prepare the planting area thoroughly and give each plant enough room to establish and develop naturally.
